Works: Construction of an Arch Bridge
Location: Slovenia
Project features: the new construction of the bridge over the River Mangart was required after it was demolished following flooding, along an important road between Italy and Slovenia which runs over the Predil Pass. ALPI intervened in the construction of the arch with a variable thickness of between 1.5 and 0.8 m, a width of 5 m and a span of 90 m. The work required the use of a cantilever arch form traveller built using the MECCANO 120 system. The first casting phases were carried out without moving the carriage, as it was positioned on the foundation and trussed to the pier. The following phases were done moving the carriage to its typical position, using a special hydraulic system. The 12 m traveller length and the 6m working platform allowed the use of 12 m reinforcing bars, with consistent savings in terms of cutting and waste, at the same time proceeding with the preparation of the reinforcements for the next phase. The project also involved the application of an effective launching system, for rapid launching and greater safety guarantees, as well as excellent adaptability to all different sizes. The carriage was positioned with a minimum of manoeuvres, thanks to its hydraulic system.
